About the Creator

Matthew Antoniazzi grew up in a home where Christmas was sacred, magical, and full of heart. His mother, once a child with little, gave everything to make the season a wonderland. With music from 92.9 FM filling the house and thoughtful gifts under glowing lights, the spirit of Santa Claus took root early.

Fascinated by the legend, Matthew found heartbreak in learning it was myth — but instead of letting go, he reimagined it. In 2020, driven by a mix of deep curiosity and powerful creativity, he began writing a new origin story for Santa Claus — one that fills in the gaps with imagination and spirit.

His story embraces Indigenous and Canadian cultural elements, inspired by time spent near Mohawk territory and a deep respect for tribal tradition. Copies of his story have been shared with communities across Northern Nunavik, thanks to collaboration with Kativik School Board.

With a mother who wrote stories and a father who played music, Matthew’s DNA is stitched with art. He writes original songs on piano and grew up reading everything from ancient myths to The Diary of Anne Frank. In 2013, he won a local Battle of the Bands with an original piece — and he’s never stopped creating since.

In 2025, he began working with Matt Noretz at Avbury Studios to bring the Santa Origins soundtrack to life. Though he jokes that he’s “a hardworking nobody who knows every Disney song ever written,” his work speaks volumes.

“If I can make even one stranger smile — encourage them to keep hoping and believing — then everything I’ve done to share this story has been worth it.”

Behind the Magic

Before the book, before the music, before the legend… there was simply a kid with big dreams, a piano in the basement, and a deep love for wonder and warmth.
